Augusta University, a public research university and medical center, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of Vice President for Enrollment and Student Affairs. Reporting to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, the Vice President for Enrollment and Student Affairs is the chief recruitment and student services officer of the University. A member of the Provost’s senior staff, the Vice President is responsible for building and maintaining collaborative relationships with the other Provost Cabinet members and Deans to create and maintain an integrated learning environment which is dedicated to educating and nurturing the whole student. The Vice President for Enrollment and Student Affairs is also a member of the President’s Cabinet and interacts closely with other leaders across the institution to facilitate success in its mission which is “to provide leadership and excellence in teaching, discovery, clinical care, and service as a student-centered comprehensive research university and academic health center with a wide range of programs from learning assistance through postdoctoral studies.”

About the Position
The Vice President for Enrollment and Student Affairs provides leadership, management, and supervision of enrollment and student affairs programs and personnel, managing the divisional budget, responding to student needs, and fostering institutional development.The Division includes: Administrative Operations (business and assessment and special projects), Enrollment Services (academic admissions, student financial aid and military and veterans services); Student Services (wellness and recreation, housing and residence life, and Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre); Student Life (student conduct, student life and engagement, Greek life and leadership, student engagement through service, and two student centers); and Student Advocacy (CARE team, food pantry and student advocacy programs, student counseling and psychological services, and testing and disability services).
Specific duties include but are not limited to these:
- Lead, facilitate and assess a strategic enrollment plan for the university, focusing on the recruitment of new students and initiatives to retain current students
- Develop strategies for recruiting new students, including freshmen, transfers, military, returning adult dual enrollment, and non-degree seeking students while working closely with The Graduate School and academic departments on the processing of graduate applications
- Partner with the Division of Communication and Marketing to create undergraduate recruitment publications and materials
- Develop financial aid strategies and policies to utilize all financial aid resources each academic year that will contribute to student success across all levels of the university.
- Partner with departments across the university and community to develop and implement initiatives that focus on the successful recruitment, retention and graduation of military and veteran students
- Plan, design, develop and deliver student programs and services that reflect the goals of the University; provide leadership for ensuring quality in all aspects of the University’s non-academic student experience with a clear focus on successful student outcomes.
- Recommend, develop and implement policies, procedures and practices that foster and promote student success; recommend organizational and operational structures, personnel, and resources to ensure a student-centered environment at all levels; represent the University to various external entities in matters relating to the University’s student affairs initiatives.
- Provide collaborative leadership and guidance for the recruitment and retention of students.
- Prepare appropriate reports; analyze and evaluate data, outcomes and metrics to be used in strategic decision making.
- Provide leadership to the Dean of Student Life for activities related to student due-process / non-academic judicial proceedings, including, but not limited to writing appropriate policies and procedures, conducting investigations, and holding hearings on student non-academic judicial matters. Serve as the appellate officer for student honesty, conduct and sexual misconduct hearings.
- Develop, foster and promote new opportunities for partnerships with public and private sector entities; provide leadership for establishing multi-year tactical and annual operational goals designed to complement the strategic goals of the University
- Support University activities and special events through attendance and/or participation.
- Communicate a positive, accurate image of the University to the public.
Candidates for the position of Vice President for Enrollment and Student Affairs must bring a personal energy and commitment along with professional maturity to the position. An earned doctorate in higher education, counseling/student services or a closely related field is required. Experience requirements include a minimum of seven years of progressive and relevant responsibility and leadership in enrollment and/or student affairs at the level of Assistant/ Associate Vice President or above at comparable institutions. Experience in the role of Vice President is preferred.

- Demonstrated effectiveness and successful leadership as a culturally competent professional with broad experience interacting with and supporting the needs of diverse stakeholders, including division staff and undergraduate and graduate student populations
- A record of success as an advocate for student concerns
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement assessment plans, including the ability to use assessment results to improve the effectiveness of services and programs for students
- Extensive experience and evidence of outstanding success in determining appropriate staff size to ensure equity in hiring, training, developing, supervising, and assessing/evaluating staff performance in the achievement of division and unit goals
- Active participation and leadership in local, regional, and/or national professional organizations.
