It gives me great pleasure to announce LaTanya Johns' appointment as the Benet Career Management Center's new Assistant Dean, effective June 1, 2021. LaTanya comes to the Simon Business School from Texas Christian University’s (TCU) Neeley School of Business, where she was the Director of The Graduate Career Center. She will report to Rebekah Lewin, Senior Assistant Dean, Admissions and Programs.
Over the last 13 years at TCU, LaTanya was responsible for developing career programming for Neeley MBA and MS students and alumni and overseeing corporate engagement strategies to attract national and global corporations to TCU. Under her leadership, Neely saw a 51% increase in average starting post-graduation salaries of MBA students. Before joining TCU, she worked at the McCombs Business School’s Career Center at The University of Texas at Austin for three years as an undergraduate career advisor and adjunct lecturer. Immediately prior, LaTanya worked in the Co-op & Career Services Office at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, NY.
LaTanya’s proven track record in career management and student services and her strong corporate partnerships make her an excellent choice to lead the Simon Business School’s Benet Career Management Center and its staff. As Simon continues to evolve and charter new learning and career opportunities for our diverse group of students, LaTanya will make an outstanding Dean.
With over 25 years of experience in higher education and career services, LaTanya is most proud of her volunteer opportunities to effect change in her community. In 2018 she was selected to participate in the National African-American Women’s Leadership Institute (NAAWLI).
LaTanya holds a B.S. in Business Management from Penn State University and an MS in Human Resource Development from Rochester Institute of Technology. She is married to Anthony, and they have three children, Anthony II, a student at Tarrant County College in Arlington, TX, Shakyra, a student at TCU in Fort Worth, TX; and Gabrielle, who will be a senior at Mansfield High School in Mansfield, TX.
We also want to take this opportunity to thank Assistant Dean Angela Petrucco, who has served in her role for close to three years. We will have a formal opportunity to thank Angela for her many years of service and congratulate her on her accomplishments. Angela has graciously offered to help LaTanya get oriented to her new role.
Please join us in welcoming LaTanya to the Simon community.
