Re: Dr. Peter Konwerski Appointed Vice President for Student Life
I am pleased to announce that I have appointed Dr. Peter Konwerski as Vice President for Student Life for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Dr. Konwerski will begin employment with the Institute on January 2, 2019.
Dr. Peter A. Konwerski is the former Vice Provost and Dean of Student Affairs at The George Washington University. Dr. Konwerski is a highly accomplished and experienced student life administrator with over 27 years of academic, professional, and leadership experience.
Dr. Konwerski, serving as the Vice Provost and Dean of Student Affairs at The George Washington University, was responsible for student well-being, support of learning outside the classroom, and management of a comprehensive student services and housing portfolio with more than $100M in revenue and operating expenses for a 26,000-student, multi-campus, urban research university. Dr. Konwerski managed 15 units and 150 professional student affairs staff, through a combined portfolio including student academic support resources, student administrative services, student engagement initiatives, and student wellness, education, and prevention programs.
Prior to being appointed as the Vice Provost and Dean of Student Affairs at The George Washington University, Dr. Konwerski served in several leadership positions where he developed deep expertise in nearly every function of student affairs. He held positions as the Senior Associate Provost and Dean of Student Affairs; Senior Associate Vice President and Dean of Students; Assistant Vice President, Student and Academic Support Services and Chief of Staff to the Senior Vice President; Executive Director for Academic and Administrative Partnerships and Assistant to the Senior Vice President, Student and Academic Support Services; Executive Director, Marvin Center and Student Activities Center; Associate Director, Student Activities Center; Program Director for the Federal AmeriCorps Learn and Serve Grant; and as the Founding Director for the Office of Community Service.
Dr. Konwerski holds a Doctor of Education in Education and Human Development; a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration; and a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services from The George Washington University.
